Capitol Hill

it's ending. they are tearing down a block of fun and funky retail/apartments in a classic seattle brick building and replacing it with brand new retail/apartments. oh my god. just too sad there now and becoming worse.

Rainy Day - best for shopping

Our first day was spent in the neighborhood of Shibuya to check out the crazy shops and the crowds, decked out kids. This is a famous, trendy shopping district. Spent hours at Tokyu Hands (where most of my souvenirs were bought) and the Coop. Mostly people watched and went to an excellent standing sushi bar. Drizzle was fine - we just shopped in the malls, etc.

Aki's Monthly Mansion

Perfect kitchen. You can see the front door area where we kept our shoes - see how it's lit? The bathroom is on the right. Notice sliding glass door between rooms - was very nice! Bed was really firm (actually hard) and the comforter was foam. I slept really well. The bed at home seems too soft still.

View from the bedroom: whole place was tiny, but perfectly designed. Lots of storage. Very comfy. So helpful to have internet access. Don't know how we ever traveled without it.

Such a well designed bathroom. I loved it. Again, the recessed light was so cool. The shower/bath set up was so smart - all moisture wicked away. The shower was a whole room.

There was always a fancy car of some sort outside. These are space saving spots that park cars double decker below ground. Very mod. All cars are immaculate here.

View from balcony window. We were on the 7th floor. See moat with fishermen - double decker highway.

Aki at front door of apartment - looked like a vault door. Cameras every where - lots of security.

Our area in Tokyo was called Akasaka-mitsuke - great central location - with five subway lines connecting to our nearest station - was perfect. I would definitely stay in this 'hood again. If I could afford it. It was very normal, not super touristy (I didn't think).

There are vending beverage machines everywhere. This is outside our building. Pop, coffee, I think beer too.
